Congratulations! Your 65th birthday is coming up.
As you celebrate this milestone, know your health insurance options are changing and we can help.
Our friendly CHPW Medicare Representatives are here to discuss your options with you and answer your questions.
When can I enroll?
The earliest you can sign up for Medicare for the first time is three months before you turn 65. The latest you can enroll is three months after your birthday month. So, you have seven months to sign up. This is called your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP).

Mark your calendar! Now is the perfect time to start thinking about your options.
Important: If you enroll after your Initial Enrollment Period—which ends three months after the month you turn 65—and you don’t have other qualifying health coverage, you may have to pay a late enrollment penalty.

#Your monthly plan premium may be paid for as long as you qualify for 100% Low Income Subsidy (“Extra Help”). You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium (unless that is paid for you by Apple Health (Medicaid) or another third party).
*Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) are available to eligible Dual Complete (HMO D-SNP) plan enrollees. You may qualify for these benefits if you have been diagnosed with a chronic condition such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Mental Health Conditions, Cancer, or other qualifying conditions listed in your Evidence of Coverage. You must also meet all other eligibility criteria. To find out if you are eligible, please contact Community Health Plan of Washington’s Care Management team at 1-866-418-7005 (TTY: 711), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Benefits vary by plan. Connect with a CHPW Medicare Representative to see which plan best fits your needs. We’re here to help 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

What kind of care do you need? Not every medical issue needs emergency care. If you have a medical issue that doesn’t seem to be life-threatening, but you’re not sure what to do, see if your local Community Health Center clinic or primary care doctor offers virtual care. If they do, they will tell you how to set up your virtual care appointment.
